My goal for 2010-11 is to teach the students how to draw the human body. At an age appropriate level, we will explore the anatomy and physiology of the human form. As always I incorporate CPS or creative problem solving. This skill can be applied to every aspect of the students life. By cultivating a rich imagination, curiosity about the world in which we live and using a wide variety of materials to express their individual creativity, students can come up with many solutions to a visual problem.
I will continue to teach the artistic process. By building a work of art through a step by step approach, students are required to focus, listen and follow directions. They come to realize that drawing is not always about talent. Through observational drawing, art is more about seeing. Everyone can draw and there are no mistakes in art. I encourage and require Christian kindness, respect and politeness in the art room. I hope that the students will leave with a love and an appreciation of art.
