STUDENTS IN GRADES 5-8 MUST HAVE A BLACK BINDER BY THIS TUESDAY (5/15)
*Students in grades 5-8 will be starting rehearsal for RA's Annual Spring Concert held on Tuesday, May 22nd. This year's concert theme is Evolution in Genre. Each grade will have an assigned genre to explore: from Elvis Presley and the birth of rock & roll, to the bright lights of Broadway and the unconventional ways art imitates life; from the storytellers of country music, to the vast pool of pop favorites including The Monkees, Michael Jackson, NSYNC, etc.- this year promises a song for every musical preference.
All students are required to bring in a black binder to use for the concert.
*7th Grade has finished watching "Fiddler on the Roof" and are now taking on the challenge of writing their first monologue. Students will choose a character from the movie (all characters except for Tevye) and flesh out a moment from the story to develop their character in a deeper, more thoughtful way. Monologues will not be graded based on spelling and grammatical structure. Rather, students will be performing their monologues for the class, assuming the role of their chosen character, and therefore, graded on their ability to make their character's moment come to life.
*4th Grade has begun playing recorders and are working in partners and groups to achieve mastery levels in Recorder Karate.
*The break-down for Second Trimester report card grades are as follows:
-Kindergarten through Second Grade:
Based solely upon class participation which includes:
1) following directions
2) listening and paying attention
3) completion of in-class assignments
4) student contribution to the lesson:
*providing answers for posed questions
*asking relevant questions of their own
*offering thoughtful commentary
-Third Grade through Fifth Grade:
